BIO: Jon Ernst is a Los Angeles–based music supervisor, composer, and songwriter, and the founder of ShowRunner Music. Widely sought after for his instinctive ear and deep industry experience, Jon has played a key role in shaping the sound of some of television’s most recognizable series.
He first gained national attention as “PianoBoy,” the on-camera musical director/DJ for MTV’s hit game show Singled Out. He went on to serve as music supervisor for MTV’s breakout reality phenomena The Hills and Laguna Beach, launching a career that has since spanned countless high-profile productions.
As a composer, Jon scored numerous episodes of VH1’s iconic Behind the Music, contributed signature sounds to the early success of A&E’s Duck Dynasty, and continues to create original songs, themes, and scores for television through his ShowRunner Music banner.
His recent credits include Married At First Sight (NBC), Farmer Wants a Wife (Fox), America’s Sweethearts, Love Is Blind, Perfect Match, The Ultimatum, Last Chance U, and Cheer (Netflix), as well as MTV’s Siesta Key, Love at First Lie, and Cribs.
A Chicago native, Jon studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston and is a graduate of the University of Florida.
